WTA Cincinnati Day 4 Predictions Including Coco Gauff vs Xinyu Wang
Coco Gauff’s first match since losing to the eventual champion Victoria Mboko at the National Bank Open will occur on Sunday. She is scheduled to face Xinyu Wang, who has a habit of causing upsets. This article also predicts Karolina Muchova, Daria Kasatkina, and Dayana Yastremska’s matches, and we have predictions for all of the day 4 matches from Mason, Ohio.
WTA Cincinnati Day 4 Predictions
Dayana Yastremska vs Viktoriya Tomova
Head-to-head: First meeting
Yastremska played very well at the National Bank Open, defeating Emma Navarro and narrowly losing to the 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina. Tomova usually thrives most when she has time on her groundstrokes. Yastremska, one of the most aggressive players in the world, does not give that to opponents. If she plays near her best, the Ukrainian will triumph.
Prediction: Yastremska in 2
Daria Kasatkina vs Lucia Bronzetti
Head-to-head: Bronzetti 1-0 Kasatkina
Bronzetti’s 6-7 6-2 7-6 win against Lin Zhu was the most thrilling match of the opening round. The Italian will hope this encounter does not go the distance, since Kasatkina’s matches are often the most physically grueling in the women’s game. Bronzetti won their last meeting, but I favor Kasatkina to get her revenge. Any lingering fatigue or stiffness will likely be exposed by the 15th seed.
Prediction: Kasatkina in 3
Karolina Muchova vs Caroline Garcia
Head-to-head: Garcia 1-0 Muchova
Garcia started well in one of her final tournaments before retiring at the end of the season. This promises to be a challenging matchup for her, though. Muchova’s variety and complete game is suited to taking advantage of the Frenchwoman’s weak movement at this stage of her career. I doubt Garcia can find enough consistent, powerful hitting to compensate for that disadvantage.
Prediction: Muchova in 2
Coco Gauff vs Xinyu Wang
Head-to-head: Gauff 1-1 Wang
Wang defeated Gauff at June’s Berlin Open. That was the world No. 2’s first match since winning the French Open and occurred on grass. Expect Gauff to perform much better on the hard courts in Cincinnati. She won her maiden WTA 1000 title at the tournament, and the conditions suit her game. Wang usually produces her best against top players, but Gauff is backed to improve on the National Bank Open, where she broke her personal record for double faults in a match.
Prediction: Gauff in 2
