Lindsey Vonn might be sports royalty, but she needed some assistance to keep a wardrobe malfunction from derailing her night out.
The Olympic medal-winning ski racer attended the 2025 ESPY Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 16, and went daring with her choice of red carpet attire.
The athlete, 40, walked the red carpet for the event in a strapless eggplant-colored Elisabetta Franchi gown from the designer’s fall/winter 2025 collection. The dress had a daring hip-bone-grazing slit that allowed Vonn to show off her toned legs, as well as her black G-string.

The daring fashion moment nearly turned dangerous, as her dress lifted up with a gust of wind and showed more of her G-string than expected. Her sister, Karin Kildow, rushed in to save her and stepped in front of her dress so that it wouldn’t expose her.

Vonn’s G-string wasn’t her only accessory at the ESPYs. She completed her red carpet look with statement drop earrings, a black clutch and black platform heels. For her glam, she wore her hair side-parted with wet waves and went sultry with smokey eye makeup.
During the ceremony, Vonn swapped the dress for another sexy look — a sparkling silver fringe dress that featured a plunging V-neck that dipped low enough to show off her cleavage and a completely sheer skirt. The beads on the dress glittered with each movement she made on the stage.
