Jim Carrey’s Most Outrageous Performance Just Landed on Tubi (And It Still Might Be His Best)

Jim Carrey’s high-energy, goofy comedic style has established his place as one of the most iconic comedic actors of his generation. Over the years, the actor has given laugh-out-loud performances in hit movies like Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Carrey owes much of his success to 1994, a year that saw a trio of iconic films launch his comedy career, and one of them just returned to streaming.

Tubi’s September 2025 streaming lineup brought 1994’s The Mask to the platform on September 1st. Directed by Chuck Russell, the superhero comedy is based on John Arcudi and Doug Mahnke’s comic book series of the same name and stars Jim Carrey as Stanley Ipkiss, a mild-mannered bank clerk who transforms into a manic superhero when he wears a mysterious green mask that contains the spirit of the Norse god Loki. Cameron Diaz makes her acting debut as Tina Carlyle, who becomes attracted to Stanley, alongside a cast that also features Peter Riegert, Peter Greene, Amy Yasbeck, and Richard Jeni.

Why You Should Watch The Mask

Released during the same year that saw Carrey star in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Dumb and Dumber, two films that also reached No. 1 at the box office and helped solidify 1994 as the year that Carrey took over Hollywood, The Mask established the actor as a major comedic force and a leading movie star. Carrey’s comedic abilities are on full display in The Mask, which is tied as his 10th-highest-rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes with an 80% critics’ score, the actor bringing a chaotic, energetic, over-the-top performance to the film. That high-energy performance is perfectly balanced by Diaz in her memorable breakout role.

Wildly fun and entertaining, and featuring a groundbreaking use of CGI to create a live-action cartoon that still holds up today, The Mask was a massive success. The movie grossed $352 million against its $18 million production budget and went on to spawn an entire franchise that now includes the 2005 sequel Son of the Mask (2005), an animated series, additional comics, and a video game. Both Carrey and Diaz have also expressed interest in reprising their roles for a potential third movie.

Other Comedy Movies Now on Tubi

Tubi stocked plenty of laughs in its streaming library at the start of September. After watching The Mask, Tubi viewers can view other recent comedy additions such as The Truman Show, one of Carrey’s other iconic ’90s films. Beverly Hills Cop and Beverly Hills Cop II, Clueless, Daddy Day Care, Fighting With My Family, She’s The Man, 2005’s The Longest Yard, The Truman Show, and The Waterboy also recently joined the lineup.

Tubi’s comedy movie lineup is set to continue to grow in October, when films such as Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Delivery Man, Idiocracy, Joe Dirt, Legally Blonde, and Life After Beth will join the streamer on October 1st.
