Jets’ Breece Hall, Jermaine Johnson Reportedly Subject of NFL Trade Calls at Deadline
Amid an 0-6 start, the New York Jets are reportedly receiving trade calls on two of their most talented players.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, teams have inquired about the availability of running back Breece Hall and pass-rusher Jermaine Johnson leading up to the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
The Jets have reportedly also placed some calls as well in hopes of landing a kick returner.
New York is the only remaining winless team in the NFL this season, so there is reason to believe the organization would at least consider selling off some pieces in exchange for draft capital.
Both Hall and Johnson were selected by the Jets in the 2022 NFL draft with Johnson going 26th overall in the first round and Hall going 36th overall in the second round.
Despite the Jets’ struggles, Hall is off to a strong start this season, rushing for 410 yards and catching 17 passes for 150 yards through six games. He has yet to score a touchdown, but his 4.7 yards per carry are his highest since his rookie season.
Hall was perhaps trending toward NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2022 before a torn ACL cut his season short, but he bounced back in 2023, setting career highs in rushing yards (994), receptions (76), receiving yards (591) and total touchdowns (nine).
While he still managed 1,359 total yards and eight touchdowns last season, Hall averaged a career-worst 4.2 yards per carry.
Although he has been better thus far in 2025, it hasn’t led to winning results for the Jets, and it is fair to wonder if he could be available via trade since he is set to become a free agent during the offseason.
Despite constant rumors and speculation, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters this week that the team has no plans to trade Hall.
The 26-year-old Johnson broke out in 2023 with a career-high 7.5 sacks, 55 tackles and 11 tackles for loss en route to his first and only Pro Bowl selection.
However, his ascent was put on hold last season when a torn Achilles limited him to only two games.
Johnson has also missed three games so far this season due to an ankle injury, and he has recorded one sack and 12 tackles in three games played.
He is under contract through next season due to the Jets exercising the player option in his contract.
It isn’t yet clear if the Jets have any interest in moving on from Hall or Johnson, but one can only assume that they will be sellers at the deadline since they are essentially already out of playoff contention.
The Jets are best off building for the future, and if Hall and Johnson aren’t part of their future plans, perhaps parting ways with them would be best for the franchise.
