Besiktas and Fenerbahçe explore the possibility of signing Real Madrid veteran – report

According to information from Defensa Central, Turkish sides Fenerbahçe and Besiktas have been exploring the market for a cost-effective defensive option and their search led them to make inquiries about David Alaba.
In fact, the two teams have checked whether Real Madrid would be open to a loan deal or even a permanent transfer if the Austrian defender were released in the coming days.

It is to be noted that Alaba is tied to Real Madrid until 2026, which means he still has one more season left beyond the current campaign. Given that situation, Los Blancos were not entirely opposed to the idea of moving him on.
However, the player himself has made it clear that he does not intend to leave the Spanish capital just yet. Alaba wants to remain until the end of his contract.
There is still time
This stance has effectively shut the door on a potential move to Turkey, even though the Turkish transfer market remains open until 12 September.

Real Madrid would have been ready to authorise the deal had Alaba accepted the proposal, but the defender is reluctant to leave Madrid for a late-career challenge in the Super Lig.
For the Austrian, the 2025/26 season looks set to be one of the most difficult spells of his career as he is considered the last option in the centre-back hierarchy.
On top of that, Real Madrid are not planning to extend his contract beyond its expiry, which means his long-term future lies away from the club.
From Madrid’s perspective, the interest from Fenerbahçe and Besiktas was seen as a final chance to move Alaba on while also lightening the wage bill.
Yet the defender remains firm in his decision. By seeing out his contract, he will eventually leave on a free transfer, which is his right as a player.
