Nottingham Forest back in talks with defender after hearing the £10m price has been slashed

Nottingham Forest are going to be in the market for a host of new players during the summer transfer window.
Igor Jesus has signed for the Reds from Botafogo, with Jair Cunha being praised by Ross Wilson after joining from the same club.
It hasn’t all been a walk in the park for Forest so far this summer, with Anthony Elanga signing for Newcastle and Tottenham’s interest in Morgan Gibbs-White extremely rife.
However, the main priority behind the scenes is to bring new players in, with Nuno Espirito Santo hoping to bring at least four new players to the club.

Nottingham Forest back in talks for Pablo Maffeo
According to Marca, Forest have re-entered negotiations to try and sign the former Manchester City trainee this summer.
Maffeo was available for £10 million but Forest baulked at that price and have since learned of a new valuation placed on his head by RCD Mallorca.
It’s now claimed that a fee of £6 million could be enough to prise the player away from his current club, with other Premier League teams also snooping.
Maffeo has made 128 appearances for Mallorca and actually played three times for Manchester City when he was on their books too.
The 28-year-old typically operates as a right-back but he’s more than capable of playing as a wing-back should Espirito Santo ever choose to go with three central defenders.
More depth is required at full-back for Forest
Forest have moved to tie down Ola Aina and Neco Williams to new contracts this summer, but more full-backs are required.
The Reds have lost Alex Moreno, who has returned to Aston Villa at the end of his loan spell, and more cover will be required.
Forest can’t go into the season with just two full-backs, and adding another one is paramount.
With that in mind, Maffeo might not be the most glamorous signing of the summer, but he could prove to be one of the most important.
