Gas leak shuts down street in College Station, prompts evacuations

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The College Station Fire Department (CSFD) told KBTX a gas leak has prompted the closure of College Main Street.

CSFD said a gas line of four to six inches was struck by a construction crew.

The call came in just after 8 a.m., and first responders quickly blocked off the area.

Atmos has been called to the scene and is working on repairs, but CSFD said the repair could take hours because the roadway needs to be torn up to complete the work.

No injuries have been reported, and buildings in the immediate area of College Main and Cherry St. were evacuated.
